Seminar/ Webinar

Seminars and workshops provide a chance to interact with experts from the specific field. Discussing about the relevant topics of the particular subject, students tend to learn about the latest information and new skills related to the concerned subject. Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Education took initiative in this direction and provided opportunity to both students and teachers to learn and enrich themselves in many areas of importance.

 

Unity in diversity, Higher Education in the era of knowledge explosion: Pedagogical perspectives and innovations, Universal Human Values, Learning beyond Academics: Explore your soft skills through Social and Emotional Counseling are some of the topics on which the seminars/ webinars were conducted.

 

Resource persons like, Dr. Vini Sebastin, Dr. Sybil Thomas, Dr. Saramma Chandy, Dr. Dayanand Sansanwal gave their key note addresses and their expert thoughts on the topics.

PUPPET SHOW

In NMFCE puppet show was shown to B.Ed. students on 25th March 2019 by Professor Nilam Mandal. Prof. Nilam Mandal has been awarded Excellence Award by NFDC for her show based on “swachhata abhiyan”.Same show she had presented with the help of B.Ed. students. Another show was on ‘9 Jewels of Akbar”. It embedded creativity, problem solving, and artistic skills.  

GUEST LECTURE TALK

Dr. E.Ramganeshan was invited in our college to deliver a lecture on topic “Recent Developments in Digital Classroom”. In his informative and interactive lecture he focused on many digital trends available for students to increase their knowledge and skill level. He spoke on “SWAYAM” and encouraged students and Faculty members to participate in on line courses run by SWAYAM.

STATE LEVEL WEBINAR ON SELF-ACCEPTANCE

To train us in dealing with anxiety a state level webinar was organized by N.M.F.C.E. on 15th May 2020. The resource person was Ms. Meta Shah, a renowned counsellor and psychologist. She highlighted the importance of self-acceptance and techniques on dealing with anxiety. If any improvement is needed, one must do it one one’s own health. 

EXPERT TALK ON UNDERSTANDING ONLINE PERSPECTIVE

To deal with this crucial topic N.M.F.C.E conducted an expert talk for the B.ed students on the topic “UNDERSTANDING THE ONLINE PERSPECTIVE” on 10th December 2020 from 3 to 5 pm. The Resource person was Miss Vini Sabastian, the Associate Professor of St. Xavier’s Institute of Education. This seminar helped us to understand online interactions effectively. It enhanced the skills in online communication. This talk filled students with confidence and gave them the boost to embrace this new challenge with confidence and a positive attitude.

WEBINAR ON UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES

A webinar on Universal human values was conducted on zoom on 30th march, 2021. Dr. Sybil Thomas was the chief speaker. She spoke on ‘Universal values and its essence’. She helped students examine consciousness and inculcated use of humanism and well-being.  
 

SEMINAR ON RESUME MAKING AND INTERVIEW SKILLS

To learn resume skills, B.Ed students of NMFCE attended a seminar which was held on 17th July, 2021 on zoom. The resource person was Mr. Nitil Gupta, an entrepreneur and consultant. He taught how to create innovative video resume and highlighted do’s and dont’s of interview. The seminar helped realize how interviewers align with the needs and culture. 
 

WEBINAR ON SERIES OF LECTURE

Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Education organized a webinar on “Lecture Series” from, 11th October to 16th October, 2021. The webinar on communication taught how to focus on our outcome and develop messages with clarity and create open discussion for communication success. The series on writing taught different types such as Letters, Essays, Memos, etc. Another series focused on children with special needs and innovative teaching skills. Finally, series on four pillars of health worked on personal development and growth. 

WEBINAR ON MAKING ONLINE LEARNING INTERACTIVE

A workshop on “Making Online Learning Interactive'' was conducted by Ms. Bhindya Ramachandran on 25th June 2021. This workshop was on how to create screen casted videos, how to make use of various websites like edpuzzle, Flippity, Mindmap, Math playground while taking lessons and how to explore other sites like Phet, Sutori, Brainpop. These were various instruments which really helped us to enhance our teaching skills and ways. Ms. Bhindya showed us live demonstrations of each of these tech savvy websites, online tools, apps and how we can use them in our daily teaching process.

WORKSHOP ON STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION IN PANDEMIC ERA

A workshop on – “Students Assessment and Evaluation in the pandemic era” – was conducted on 17th August 2021 by Ms.Akshara Savaliya. This workshop was another sparkling light which benefited all the students on how to undertake the assessment and evaluation of students in this pandemic which is really a challenging task for the teachers. Ms. Akshara spoke about the assessment process, quality of test, authentic assessments and how to make our students more interactive in this online teaching learning process.

WORKSHOP ON TIME MANAGEMENT

Time Management Workshop – was conducted on 31st July 2021 by Ms.Akshara Savaliya. It was about how to manage our time in our day-to-day life and make fruitful benefits by utilizing our time. It was a very interactive session, where all students discussed problems we usually face in our lives and how we tackle them. Ms. Akshara also guided all of us on how should we distribute our time based on 3 ways i.e. –Thoughts, Conversation and Action. No matter what type of work we do, our work will be more composed, if we manage our time well based on these 3 ways.

SEMINAR ON EXAMINATION PRESSURE

An educative workshop was organized by NMFCE, conducted by M.Ed. interns of SNDT College, Churchgate Ms. Harpriet Flora, Ms. Shivani Dwiwedi, Ms. Harshal Gangurde and Ms. Dhara Ajmera. on "Examination Pressure" on 16th July 2022. It occurs due to pressure, high expectations, competitiveness, and focusing too much on the outcome. The main objective of this 90 minutes’ workshop was to empower students on ways with to deal with such stressful situations. The workshop provided the students with tips on managing stress especially on exam day. The role of parents was also discussed in depth.
 

WORKSHOP ON WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

With the growing need of technology in Education, it is necessary for teachers to be well-versed with technical knowledge. NMFCE in collaboration with UpEducators conducted a workshop on "Developing a professional website for Teaching and Learning". It was conducted on 15 October, 2022 by the resource person Mr. Ankush Bhandare. Mr. Ankush Bhandare, UpEducator started the workshop by explaining the importance of digital platform and its uses. He gave stepwise instructions on how to create a website. Overall, the workshop was a great learning experience for the students.

Workshop on preparation of teaching aids

Our college hosted a highly informative workshop on preparing Teaching Aids, generously sponsored by the Pidilite company. The workshop provided participants with kits containing acrylic colors, molding clay, fabric glue, and glass colors, equipping them with the necessary materials to create effective and engaging teaching aids.

Expert instructors from Pidilite guided the participants through the process of using these materials to design and construct various teaching aids. The hands-on training sessions were both educational and inspiring, offering innovative techniques and ideas for enhancing classroom instruction.

The workshop concluded with a certification, recognizing the creativity and effort of participants who crafted exciting and effective teaching aids. This event not only enriched the teaching skills of our students but also fostered a spirit of creativity and innovation in the educational process.

National level webinar on Intellectual Property Rights

Our college hosted a National Level Webinar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on 3rd February 2024, organized by the Government of India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIT), and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks (CGPDTM).

The webinar featured Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, an Examiner of Patents and Designs, who provided insights into various aspects of IPR, enhancing awareness among participants. The IPR Awareness Program aims to educate individuals, especially students and educators, about the importance and benefits of intellectual property rights, covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs. The event was coordinated by Ms. Sweety Singh, under the guidance of Dr. Nitisha Jha, I/C Principal, and organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The webinar contributed to a broader understanding of IPR among participants, emphasizing its significance in academia and professional spheres.

EXPERT TALK ON POSITIVE THINKING

SESSION CONDUCTED ON 21ST AUGUST 2023

The expert talk on positive thinking was not just an academic discourse; it was a journey into the depths of the human psyche, exploring the profound connection between thoughts, emotions, and actions. The speaker skillfully elucidated how our internal dialogue shapes our perceptions of the world and influences our response to adversity. Through captivating anecdotes and real-life examples, they illustrated how a positive mindset can act as a catalyst for personal growth and achievement, fueling creativity, innovation, and resilience in the face of challenges. Attendees were inspired to harness the power of positive affirmations, visualization techniques, and gratitude practices to cultivate a mindset of abundance and possibility.

The talk served as a gentle reminder that while external circumstances may be beyond our control, our internal attitude and outlook are within our grasp, serving as potent tools for shaping our destiny. As the audience departed, they carried with them not just knowledge, but a newfound sense of empowerment and optimism, ready to embrace life's journey with renewed vigor and determination.

SESSION CONDUCTED ON 20TH JANUARY 2024

The college recently hosted a guest lecture that resonated deeply with students, focusing on two vital aspects of personal growth: personality development and menstrual hygiene. The lecture provided valuable insights into enhancing one's personality through effective communication, self-confidence building, and goal setting, empowering attendees to navigate both academic and personal spheres with poise and resilience. Additionally, the session shed light on menstrual hygiene, breaking taboos and fostering a culture of open discussion and awareness. As a tangible demonstration of support for menstrual health, sanitary pads were distributed among attendees, emphasizing the college's commitment to promoting holistic well-being and inclusivity among its student community. The event served as a catalyst for meaningful conversations and positive action, inspiring students to prioritize both their personal development and health needs.

WORKSHOP ON RESUME MAKING AND TIPS TO CRACK INTERVIEW

The Resume Making event held on the 2nd and 3rd of October 2024 was a resounding success, providing students with invaluable guidance and resources to craft compelling resumes. Hosted by the college's career counseling center, the event offered workshops and one-on-one sessions aimed at helping students highlight their skills, experiences, and achievements effectively.

Participants received personalized feedback and tips on formatting, content, and presentation, empowering them to showcase their strengths and stand out to potential employers or academic institutions. With the job market becoming increasingly competitive, the Resume Making event played a crucial role in equipping students with the tools and confidence needed to pursue their career goals with clarity and professionalism.

EXPERT TALK ON INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAM

SESSION CONDUCTED ON 20TH FEBRUARY 2024

The Investor Awareness Program held at our college provided invaluable insights into the world of stock market investment, equipping attendees with essential tricks and tips to navigate this complex financial landscape. Through informative sessions and interactive discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how to make informed investment decisions, manage risks, and optimize returns. The program also shed light on common pitfalls and tactics used by unscrupulous individuals to deceive investors, emphasizing the importance of due diligence and vigilance. By empowering students with knowledge and awareness, the event served as a crucial step towards fostering a generation of savvy investors capable of navigating the intricacies of the stock market with confidence and integrity.

EXPERT TALK ON CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS

SESSION CONDUCTED ON 15TH MARCH 2024

Cervical cancer awareness is of paramount importance, urging individuals to prioritize regular screenings for early detection and to understand preventive measures such as vaccination. Screening tests like Pap smears and HPV tests are crucial for detecting cervical abnormalities early, enabling timely intervention and treatment. During a Pap smear, a small sample of cells is collected from the cervix and examined for any abnormalities, while an HPV test checks for the presence of high-risk human papillomavirus strains known to cause cervical cancer. Moreover, vaccination against HPV significantly reduces the risk of cervical cancer, with vaccines like Gardasil and Cervarix targeting common HPV strains. By prioritizing regular screenings and vaccination, individuals can take proactive steps to safeguard their health and reduce the risk of cervical cancer, contributing to a healthier and more informed community.
